Hello {{first_name | Friend}},

Today’s prompt dives into one of the simplest, but most transformative, shifts you can make as a copywriter.

Who you’re actually talking to.

Copy Prompt

Most writers make this mistake without realizing it: they write to an audience that doesn’t exist.

They picture thousands of eyes reading at once.
They try to sound “professional,” or “on brand.”
And in doing so, they lose the one thing that makes words connect: intimacy.

When someone reads your copy, they’re not surrounded by people.

They’re alone… with YOU.

Your job is to make that moment feel personal.

Here’s the difference:

  • “Our customers love this new feature.” → feels like a press release.

  • “You’ve been waiting for this, and now it’s here.” → feels like a letter.

The first informs. The second connects.

Today’s drill:

Take your last piece of copy and read it aloud.

If it sounds like you’re addressing a crowd, narrow your focus.

Rewrite it as if you’re speaking to one reader — your ideal client, sitting across from you.

Because connection doesn’t happen in groups.
It happens one conversation at a time.
