Today’s prompt dives into a principle that separates good copy from convincing copy. It’s not about making promises. It’s all about proving transformation.
Copy Prompt
Gary Bencivenga once said:
“Proof is the oxygen of credibility.”
Most copywriters write claims.
The best copywriters write evidence.
Anyone can say “this program changes lives.”
But only the greats show how.
Here’s what that looks like:
Before: “Our course helps you land clients.”
After: “Sam joined with zero experience. Within 45 days, he closed his first $3,000 retainer — using the exact pitch we teach in Lesson 2.”
Before: “Our app saves you time.”
After: “Users report cutting their admin work by 63% within two weeks — without adding a single new tool.”
The second version proves.
Today’s drill:
Go through your copy and highlight every promise you make.
Next to each one, write a piece of proof that backs it up: a number, a name, a quote, a case study, a story.
Then read it again.
Notice how your copy suddenly feels real.
Because transformation will always be believed when it’s demonstrated.
