Hello {{first_name | Friend}},
Today’s prompt explores one of the most underrated truths in copywriting:
Your reader doesn’t believe you.
They believe themselves through you.
Copy Prompt
The Mirror Principle is simple but ruthless:
If your copy doesn’t reflect your reader’s inner world, it won’t break their resistance.
Because people buy their own thoughts echoed back with more clarity than they’ve ever expressed.
It’s why Halbert said,
“If you can describe their problem better than they can, they’ll assume you have the solution.”
That’s the heart of connection.
Here’s how to apply it today:
1) Step into their head.
Write out 5 sentences that begin with:
“You’ve tried…” or “You’re tired of…”
Example:
“You’ve tried rewriting your offer three times, but something still feels off.”
“You’re tired of writing posts that get engagement but no leads.”
2) Mirror their truth.
Replace every “we” and “our” with “you” and “your.”
Example:
❌ “We help founders scale their business.”
✅ “You’ll finally scale your business without burning out.”
3) Finish their thoughts.
Use empathy to complete what they already feel.
Example:
“You’re not lazy, you’re just tired of tactics that don’t work in your world.”
Today’s Drill:
Take your homepage, landing page, or sales email and read it out loud.
Ask yourself:
“Do they see themselves here or do they just see me talking?”
Because the best copy is a mirror that helps your audience finally recognize themselves.
And when people feel seen, they listen.
When they listen, they buy.
